A Merry Ode to Cognac
The children are in bed
And the decorations on the tree
Now it’s time to treat yourself
To some festive eaux-de-vie
This is when you thank yourself
For stocking up the shelf
As you have two exquisite bottles
From the Cognac Expert elf
The hardest question is
Which one to enjoy first?
Will it be the Pasquet
Or a Voyer to quench your thirst?
Maybe Le Cognac d'André
From Trésors de Famille
With its notes of nutmeg, cinnamon
And hints of orange peel
Perhaps the finest Extra Cognac
From the vineyards of Grande Champagne
With aromas of tobacco, spices
And a finish that remains
The red wax of Prulho Hors d'Age
Has certainly caught your eye
From Grande Champagne - what a "Voyage"
A truly excellent buy
The Sophie & Max Edition Number 3
Is impossible to resist
Aged over a couple of decades, too
What a treasure to exist
Whichever bottle takes your fancy
One thing will be true
It’s bound to be a merry evening
With a glass of Cognac to accompany you.

There’s also 10% off the latest Cognac of the Month: Laurichesse Le Chai de Mon Père 104 with a rating of 87/100 – check out the full tasting review from the Cognac Expert connoisseur Taylor on our blog.
Pasquet’s latest offering Noel Cognac is another highly rated Cognac delight that we think will serve perfectly at the table this Christmas. Since Noël translates as Christmas in French, it seems almost fated that the spiced aromas of this special blend are so accurately reminiscent of the festive season, when in fact, it was actually named in honour of recent Pasquet ancestors; Noël and his wife Marie-France.

"La Patine" (from 1928)

Grande Champagne Cognac

Grande Champagne Cognac

Vintage: 1928
Growth Area: Grande Champagne
ABV: 40.2%
Bottle size: 70 cl
At the request of the producer family, we can not mention the name of the cognac house for which we have respect. This cognac vintage 1928 represents finesse and refinement. Subtle aromas and a complexity that can only be achieved by letting time take its course. This cognac was taken out of the barrel in time and divided into dame jeannes, which are kept in the buildings of ORECO (Organization économique cognac) to guarantee the vintage.

The family-run and organic house of Pasquet presents us with new releases, which are micro-blends of Cognacs which are exquisite in their own right, but magnificent when combined. Each component in these latest blends was created by a different exceptional producer, and so these bottles signify not only a marriage of eaux-de-vie but also of the talented characters who created them. Following the great success of the L’Esprit de Famille series, which has been met with great popularity around the world, Amy and Jean-Luc Pasquet now present a masterful third blend of the Confluences Cognacs: Vieille Grande Champagne L.90-80's.

Excellent Titulaire de Fins Bois
Earlier reserved in the nose it shows itself strong in the palate with a prolonged descent typically Fins Bois. (Translated from French) Original review: Plus tôt réservé dans le nez Il se montre fort au palais avec une descente prolongée typiquement Fins Bois.
An amazing Fins Bois
I recently stumbled on this and pulled the trigger. Amazing decision! It's an amazing retro bottle, amazing story and great presentation from Cognac Expert! A smooth, well-balanced XO. An old, could easily be an Extra or so from other producers. Dried fruits, fresh aromas. Just great

A Beautiful Cognac
I have tasted this Lavenat XO several times now. Each time it excites me more then the previous tasting. The nose of dried fruit and spice continues to the taste. Lavenat XO Cognac is a beautifully well-matured blend that spent an average of 30 years aging in French oak barrels - which is 20 years more than required for a Cognac to classify as XO quality. Talk about getting more than what you bargained for? Produced in very small quantities, all of the Cognacs produced by Lavenat have been made with love and unquestionable passion. Fronted by Bernard Lavenat, who takes the role of the cellar master, Bernard doesn’t remember a day when Cognac production wasn’t at the centre of his world. His admirable enthusiasm and passion for the craft are embodied through each and every Cognac in his small collection of products.

Exemplaire N°4 is the fourth edition of Marancheville’s Exemplaire limited edition series which stands proud as a collection of Cognacs that symbolizes the brand’s passion for exceptional quality that stands in a league of its own. Offered in small quantities and renewed every year, “Les Exemplaires” are the fruit of our know-how and our inspirations. Deriving from a blend of eaux-de-vie distilled on lees in the early 1980s on the Marancheville estate. N°4 endured a long maturation process (35 to 40 years); during this time, the aromas are slowly concentrated, and beautiful complexity emerges. In this Cognac in particular, the distinct nuance of candied orange prevails, which, combined with a woody structure, makes for a sensationally autumnal or festive delight.

Vintage Cognacs
A Vintage Cognac is a Cognac from a single year and a single harvest, not a blend from different eaux-de-vie like an XO or a VSOP. It is also referred to as a Millésime Cognac. We commonly know this from Whisky as “single barrel“, which means the spirit comes from one single source: one year, one estate, one barrel.
It's actually a very special gift to find a Vintage Cognac of a birthday, or one for Christmas.
